Albert-Ernest Carrier de Belleuse, known as Carrier-Belleuse, or simply Carrier, was born in Anizy-le-Château on June 12, 1824 and died in Sèvres on June 3, 1887. He was a renowned French sculptor.

Throughout the 19th century, he established himself as one of the most prolific artists of his time. His artistic creations were strongly influenced by the Italian Renaissance and 18th-century style, contributing to their revival and popularity.

Carrier-Belleuse also played an important role in the development of the decorative and industrial arts. His Parisian studio was a veritable center of creation, welcoming many artists, including the famous Auguste Rodin, who collaborated there.

In the last years of his life, Carrier-Belleuse became director of works of art at the prestigious Manufacture de Sèvres. Under his direction, the collections were renewed and the artistic style modernized.
