The Château d'Aguesseau is a demeure that stands on the territory of the French commune of Trouville-sur-Mer in the departement of Calvados, in the region of Normandy. The building is partially listed as a monument historique. The château is built on a terrace, overlooking the Touques valley, in the large hillside leading to Saint-Gatien, just outside Trouville, in the French department of Calvados. Today's château is the successor to the "manoir sieural de trouville-sur-Mer" possessed with the land of trouville by the de Nollent family. It was probably built in the early 17th century by Robert de Nollent, son of Élie de Nollent, Seigneur de Trouville, and Jehanne d'Harcourt. In 1698, Marie Madeleine Angélique de Nollent, who inherited the estate, married Jean de Nollent, marquis d'Hébertot, a distant cousin. It was their daughter, Françoise Marthe Angélique de Nollent (1704-1785), who passed it on to the Daguesseau family, following her marriage in 1729 to Henri François Daguesseau (1698-1764), eldest son of the French chancellor Henri François d'Aguesseau (1668-1751). It was from this time onwards that the château took the name d'Aguesseau. The Nollents kept it until the French Revolution. In 1791, Nicolas Jacques de Nollent sold the estate, which was divided up, and the château passed through eight different hands. It was then acquired by Adélaïde Pimbert, daughter of Louis Pimbert, mayor of Trouville, and wife Guettier, who also became mayor in 1830. Following her death in 1828, the property was sold in 1836 to Count Nicolas Guy du Val d'Angoville. In 1841, Foreign Minister François Guizot spent family vacations at the château, and it became known as the "Villa Guizot". It then became the property of M. Vallée, who sold it in 1851 to M. de Varin. The latter soon sold it to the 3rd prince Lucien Murat (1803-1878), who kept it only from 1853 to 1857. The prince had the stables built, as well as the two extended wings, in order to enlarge the château. The 12-hectare château then became the property of Hippolyte Guillaume Biesta, 1st Director of the Comptoir National d'Escompte, who bought it in June 1857 for 168,000 francs. It was then inherited by Madame Fanny Biesta's only daughter from her 1st marriage, née Tixier (1829-1901), widow of Auguste Monrival, followed by her son in 1901. The latter, Georges Philippes de Kerhallet (1851-1911), born of Fanny Biesta's 1st marriage to Charles Marie Philippes de Kerhallet, sold it in 1922 to Georges du Mesnil (1856-1932). The château would revert to his daughter, Baroness Léonce de Curières de Castelnau, whose family still owns it.
