Guillemet, a companion of the Impressionists, met all the important people in Paris in the world of art and literature. He frequented Charles-François Daubigny's boat-studio, “Le Bottin”, as well as the Café de Bade and, later, the Café Gerbois. He came regularly to the Atelier Suisse on the Quai des Orfèvres, more to chat than to paint.
