PAUL EMILE LECOMTE-1877-1950 End of the day in autumn oil on canvas signed lower right 32.5 x 41 cm Official painter of the navy known for his impressionist style with soft colors which he uses to represent animated quays and rural towns. His father introduced him to painting at a very young age. Lecomte studied at the École des Beaux-Arts then worked for the maritime ministry. Lecomte is a member of the Salon des Artistes Français and exhibits regularly at the Parisian salon throughout his career. He died in 1950 in France.
