Robert Humblot (1907-1962) is a leading figure in 20th-century figurative painting. In 1931, he entered the Atelier Lucien Simon at the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris, where he worked until 1934; in 1935, with Georges Rohner, whom he had met at the Beaux-Arts, and Henri Jannot, he helped found the Forces Nouvelles group, with whom he exhibited until the war. A painter of Realistic-Synthetic compositions with figures, allegories, landscapes and still lifes. He traveled in Italy, especially Venice, Spain, Provence and Brittany, regions to which he often returned, painting many works here and there. He also traveled to Holland, Africa, the West Indies and Mexico. Since 1932, he has taken part in numerous group exhibitions in Paris: at the Salons des Indépendants and d'Automne, as well as in Sofia, Brussels, Luxembourg, Madrid, New York and elsewhere. His first solo show was at Galerie Billet-Worms in Paris in 1936. After his return from captivity, an exhibition in Paris of landscapes brought back from the IIe d'ouessant drew renewed attention to him. From 1943 to 1950, he exhibited in Paris at the Van der Kfip and Barreiro galleries, then in 1950 at the Framond gallery, and from 1955 to his death at the Romanet gallery. In 1952, he was awarded the Prix Conté-Carrière, and in 1953 the Prix de la Biennale de Menton. After his death, the Musée Galliera in Paris organized a retrospective exhibition of all his work. Other posthumous tributes were paid to him, notably at the Salon d'Automne in 1987, then in 1988 at the Bernheim-Jeune gallery, in 1991 by the XXe Salon de Montmorency, in 1998 at the Bernheim-Jeune gallery Les années 30-40-50.

GALERIE Emmanuel David was a leading French art dealer and gallery owner.
In 1942, he founded Galerie Drouant-David with Armand Drouant on rue du Faubourg-Saint-Honoré in Paris, where he revealed numerous artists such as Carzou, Goerg, Gen Paul and Bernard Buffet. In March 1948, when Emmanuel DAVID and Bernard BUFFET met at the tender age of 19, they struck up an unconditional friendship that was immediately sealed by an exclusive contract. We know what happened to this young painter.
At the same time, other contracts bound the Gallery to a growing number of artists, such as : BABOULENE - CARA COSTEA - CAPRON - COMMERE - DEMAN - HAYDEN - PIERRE HENRY - HUMBLOT- ITAYA - PIERRE JUTAND - KISLING - LAMBERT-RUCKI - DANY LARTIGUES - LERCY - MICHEL PATRIX - PRIKING - REBEYROLLES - SAVIN - SEGOVIA - FRANCIS SMITH - UBEDA - VOYET - YANKEL -AIZPIRI - YVETTE ALDE - YVES ALIX - ARNAL - AUYAME - JOSEPHINE BEAUDOUIN - BELLIAS - CHARLES BLANC - BUSSE - CALMETTE - CAMPIGLI - CHARLEMAGNE - CHASTEL - CHRISTOFOROU - CIVET - CROTTI - CLAVE - PAUL COLLIN - CORBELLINI - CORTOT - DESNOYER - DIMITRIENKO - DOMINGUEZ - DURAND-ROSE - DUREY - LEONOR FINI - GANNE - ABEL GERBAUD - GLEYZES - GLUCKMAN - GOMERY - GREUELL - GUIGNEBERT - NOEL EMILE LAURENT - MADELEINE LUKA - MARIETTE LYDIS - MAC AVOY - MASCHERINI - MICHELS - G.
