Spectacular Vermeil Monstrance - Circa 1840
Our imposing monstrance is made entirely of vermeil andand features a gilded metal lunette.
The rocaille-style quadripod base is decorated with scrolls and acanthus leaves.and acanthus leaves. It is adorned with the Lamb of the Apocalypse and vine branches.The angel Gabriel stands, arms crossed on a globe, surrounded by the snakesnake seeking the apple.
The upper part is adorned with angel headsin clouds surrounded by glory and classically topped by the Cross.
Presence of the Minerve hallmarks and those of the Parisian master goldsmithsMARTIN and DEJEAN, active between 1837 and 1846.
A piece that would be at home in a cathedral.
