Pair Of Bedside Tables - In The Taste Of Paolo Buffa, Milan, Circa 1950-1960.

Remarkable pair of bedside tables in flame mahogany veneer, representative of the prestigious Milanese cabinetmaking of the mid-20th century, in the taste of Paolo Buffa.

The veneer, of exceptional quality, reveals an amber shimmer with changing reflections according to the light - characteristic of flame mahogany as worked by the great Lombard cabinetmakers of this period.

The silhouette is immediately recognizable: taut, architectural sides carved in the shape of an inverted arch, giving the whole a remarkable lightness despite the presence of the material. Four tapered, slightly flared legs end in tapered brass shoes - a detail of goldsmith's precision.

Each piece features a drawer with a two-tone front, black lacquered recessed band on a warm wood background, closed by an elegant brace cut-out. The cast brass handle, in the shape of a flattened pod, is characteristic of the decorative vocabulary of Northern Italy in the 1960s. The black glass-covered top is topped by an open gallery with clear glass shelf.

Sold as a pair only.
Very good overall condition. Intact veneer, functional drawers. Slight traces of use consistent with age.
