Large architectural pinecone, carved elm wood, 19th centuryA fine large carved element in elm wood, 19th century, measuringapproximately 32 cm for the decorated part and up to 46 cm including the stem.Its stylized pinecone shape is typical of architectural decorative vocabulary.The upper section is decorated with raised rounded bosses arranged in astaggered pattern, resembling scales; at the top, a removable finial (?). Thelower collar features a band of acanthus leaves with well-defined veins. Below,a molded ring, followed by a long stem used for mounting into a structure(diameter: 2.5 cm).Top element or staircase newel finial? Provincial work, found in theRhône Valley, 19th century.
