Carved wooden cradle. Italy, 19th century.

Rocking cradle in dark wood, rectangular in form, with high sides and four columnar uprights terminating in turned finials. The long side panels feature carved decoration with volute and stylised leaf motifs on a flat ground; the main headboard bears a circular medallion with the IHS monogram within a rayed crown. The short end panels show scalloped profiles with rectangular hand-hold openings. The cradle rests on two rocker bases with shaped sled feet.

Condition report: Generally good state of conservation. Diffuse surface wear, minor dents and marks consistent with the age of the piece.
