Two-body Walnut Buffet Renaissance / 17th Century.
Richly ornamented Renaissance / XVIIth century walnut two-body buffet, featuring remarkable marquetry and carving.
The lower section opens with three doors in front, each decorated with inlaid panels of stylized plant motifs and scrolls, framed by canted jambs and pilasters. The crosspieces are embellished with finely drawn decorative friezes, while the whole rests on turned legs in the shape of flattened balls.
The recessed upper section is centered on a glass-door display case, framed by engaged colonnettes and topped by a wide molded entablature with carved decoration. On either side, lateral elements reinforce the architectural composition of this imposing piece of furniture.
Very fine craftsmanship, with a play of contrasting veneers highlighting the decorations and depth of the wood. The antique fittings are present.
Seventeenth-century work, in the Renaissance taste.
