Two-part walnut buffet – Louis XIII period – 17th century. Important two-part buffet in solid walnut, dating from the Louis XIII period, made during the 17th century. This fine piece of furniture comprises a lower section with two doors featuring molded panels decorated with diamond-point lozenges, surmounted by two drawers in the frieze adorned with bronze handles. The recessed upper section also has two richly molded doors, repeating the same geometric decoration, giving the whole a beautiful stylistic unity. The whole is structured by a frame with pilasters and deep moldings, typical of the Louis XIII style. The projecting cornice with dentils elegantly highlights the upper section. The piece rests on flattened ball feet, characteristic of this aesthetic. Very fine cabinetmaking, showcasing walnut with warm tones and a fine grain. Period: 17th century. Style: Louis XIII.
