Bowl On Foot, Blown Chalice Shape With Inclusions Signed J.c Novaro
Artist: Novaro Jean Claude
Hand-blown chalice-shaped bowl signed and dated 1990. The neck is flared and edged with green, the body is powder pink and the amber inclusion running down the stem is very successful. The decoration, an amber/brown cast that seems frozen in the thickness with a magnifying glass effect typical of his work, iridescent, metallic reflections that change according to the light: emerald green, bronze, gold, pink; very beautiful marbled/mottled effects with pink, white powdered backgrounds.
He used crushed glass and added oxides to create these golden, colored spots.
Jean-Claude Novaro was a French Master glassmaker (1943-2014), born in Antibes, died in Monaco and nicknamed "The King of Glass" for his mastery of color and form considered one of the greatest glassmakers of the 20th century
He revolutionized glass by adding directly into molten glass: gold, silver, bronze, metallic oxides, phosphorescent stones and powders. He is listed in the Guinness Book of Records for the largest work of hand-blown glass ever created. His work is inspired by Art Deco.
