"Slender Vase With Graphic Enamelled Relief Decoration By Martial Pivon, 1930"
A beautiful, slender vase with large-scale graphic decoration in ceramic/pottery, featuring a raised enameled design with incised lines, typical of Dauphiné workshops, in an ochre/deep blue/seafoam green palette. This vase, dating from the 1930s, is signed by Martial Pivon, Sr. (1892-1972), a potter from Les Abrets in Isère. The Pivon family is known in the region for its traditional pottery. Martial Pivon worked as a potter in the first half of the 20th century. His consistently innovative work and recognized techniques are documented in several books. This vase is one of those featured in them.
