Gorgeous oil painting by the French Post-Impressionist painter Victor Charreton, founder of the "Murol School," particularly renowned for his landscapes (Dauphiné, Provence, Brittany, Auvergne, etc.).
The color palette and knife technique are entirely characteristic of Charreton's works, who here depicted a charming snowy landscape, the most sought-after theme for collectors of the painter's work.
Note that the reverse is also painted with a lakeside landscape featuring a boat (scratches and small losses) !

Born into a wealthy family, his law studies led him to become, initially, a solicitor at the Lyon Court of Appeal.
He made his debut in 1894 at the Salon of the Lyon Society of Fine Arts.
In 1902, he decided to devote himself entirely to painting. In 1903, he co-founded the "Salon d'Automne" with Pierre Bonnard and regularly served as president of exhibition juries.
A highly sought-after painter among collectors, his works are exhibited in numerous museums: Carcassonne, Lyon, Murol, Grenoble, Clermont-Ferrand, Bourgoin-Jallieu, etc.
His work commands high prices, with his paintings regularly selling for tens of thousands of euros.
