18th Century Liqueur Cellar
Eighteenth-century liquor cabinet, circa 1760, in lemon veneer framed on all sides with maple, ebony and other exotic wood fillets and a wide ebony band around the edge, all on a fir core. The lid is adorned with an eglomized glass plate with fine gold decoration on the reverse, depicting a medallion surrounded by foliage and a cherub. The interior, which retains its original silk, houses six liqueur bottles with fine gold decoration, complete with stoppers, and two liqueur glasses. The case is beautifully decorated in gilded bronze, with two handles on the sides and a keyhole. The original lock is functional and fitted with an antique key. One bottle has a small missing neck (last photo). The stamped varnish has just been redone.
