Copper Japanese ‘tsuba’ From The Meji Period - Japan - 19th Century

Beautiful antique Japanese copper tsuba with a mokkō-gata (lobed) shape, finely decorated with stylized floral motifs and engraved waves.
The surface features a refined hammered texture that enhances the warm brown copper patina.

The relief decorations depict sakura blossoms and traditional Japanese motifs, combined with a wave design on one side, symbolizing strength and continuity in Japanese aesthetics.
The central nakago-ana opening is accompanied by asymmetrical hitsu-ana, characteristic of Japanese sword mountings.
