Japanese Openwork Iron Tsuba With Vegetal Decoration, Edo Period (17th – Early 19th Century)

A patinated iron tsuba featuring an openwork design of stylized foliage. A maple leaf (momiji) is prominently displayed, along with other plant and natural elements evoking an autumn landscape.

The composition is arranged around the central nakago-ana (stem) and within a rounded rim.

The surface displays an old, dark patina with slight signs of wear consistent with age.

An elegant and balanced piece, typical of decorative productions from the Edo period.
