(Geneva, 1843 - Geneva, 1919)
Mediterranean shoreline, probably the Amalfi coast

In Arthur Calame's landscapes, we can recognize both the influence of his father Alexandre, and the more northern influence of Oswald Achenbach, who was his teacher at the Düsseldorf academy.
But while his father favored mountain and lake subjects and tree studies, Arthur produced mainly views of Venice and southern coastal landscapes (Côte d'Azur, Ligurian coast, Amalfi coast), as well as a few views of the Breton and Basque coasts. He exhibited at the Paris Salon from 1874 to 1897.
