Victorian French Striking Carriage Clock T. Martin & Co Serial 3058 Working
This is a late 19th-century French carriage clock featuring a gilded brass Corniche-style case with a folding handle. The dimensions are approximately 13 centimeters in height with the handle lowered. The exterior consists of five beveled glass panels, including a circular viewing aperture on the top plate. The white enamel dial displays black Roman numerals for the hours and an outer track for minutes, with blued steel spade-shaped hands. The rear of the clock features a hinged brass door that opens to reveal the movement. The backplate is stamped with the retailer mark T. Martin & Co. Paris and the serial number 3058. The mechanical movement is an 8-day striking type that sounds the hours and half-hours on a circular steel gong. Two square winding arbors are present for the time and strike functions, alongside a central arbor for hand adjustment and a regulation scale marked S and F.
