Large Soapy Opaline Vase, Decoration In Reserve Attributed To J.f Robert, Circa 1840
Note:
The contractual association between the painter Jean-François Robert and the Maison Launay, Hautin & Cie (active between 1837 and 1855) constitutes the major axis of the marketing of luxury opalines in the 19th century. Launay, Hautin & Cie, acting as the general depot and exclusive distributor of Baccarat and Saint-Louis crystalware, entrusted Robert's independent workshop in Sèvres with the painted and enamelled decoration of its richest opal crystal pieces. Thanks to the patented low-fusion enameling process developed by Robert, this alliance made it possible to supply the market with vases and objets d'art featuring polychrome decorations of a technical quality and finesse of execution hitherto reserved for porcelain.
we'll just point out some minute wear of gilding.
