Stoneware Lamp By Ernest Chaplet And Albert Damouse For Haviland, Atelier Rue Blomet, Circa 1884
Rare glazed stoneware lamp shaft, bottomless vase body by manufacture, resulting from the collaboration between ceramist Ernest Chaplet (1835-1909) and decorator Albert Damouse (1848-1926) for the Haviland & Co factory, Rue Blomet period (circa 1884-1886). The piece, of baluster form with two complete plant handles, features a body with a fully glazed cover in a brownish-brown tone, decorated with branches and berries in relief applied in barbotine, under a neck highlighted by a band of enamelled kiln blue with a decoration of semis of dots in fine gold. The object is distinguished by its exceptional traceability, bearing the manufacture's rosary stamp and the initials "RB" (Rue Blomet) on the inside of the barrel, while the decoration is signed with the monogram "ADs" (Albert Damouse sculpsit) incised by hand into the body. The set is presented in its original bronze mounting, topped by its cut-glass reservoir.
We can search for the burner system that snaps into the crystal reservoir on request, extending shipping time. (To be specified at time of order).
