Bronze Animal , Seagull On Wave , Signed Lucien Gibert , Art Deco , Green Patina 1920

Artist: Lucien Gibert

Ancient & elegant animal sculpture in bronze with shaded green patina depicting a seagull in full flight, rising above a stylized wave.
The set rests on a rectangular base of black marble veined with brown and gold, resolutely Art Deco.

The very fluid treatment of the wave, combined with the geometrical lines of the outstretched wings, evokes the aesthetics of the great decorators of the 1930s.
The sculpture features a fine cast quality and a deep patina

.

Signature "L. GIBERT" visible in the wave decoration.

Lucien Gibert (1904-1988) was a French sculptor and medalist, born June 21, 1904 in Saint-Étienne and died March 23, 1988 in Paris.

Lucien Gibert began exhibiting at the Salon des Artistes Français and the Salon des Indépendants in 1923. Winner of several awards, he notably received the gold medal at the 1937 Universal Exhibition. He also produced a number of medals for the Monnaie de Paris, as well as monumental sculptures for public spaces and national collections.
