After a spell in Jean-Léon Gérôme's studio at the Ecole des Beaux-Arts in Paris, he specialized in press illustration, contributing in particular to La Vie Parisienne, Le Rire and Le Sourire. His talent for depicting animals, especially cats, led him to collaborate with Colette on a four-handed book, Chats.
The drawing is framed by a coaster and measures 21x26 cm.
