Important academic study of a male nude, attributable to the Florentine school between the late 18th and early 19th century. The standing figure, shown with a staff and drapery, presents a profile with wavy hair and moustache, a detail that gives the model a particularly vivid and individual presence.
Large sheet of fine antique paper prepared with tempera: the brushstrokes used by the artist to tone the surface before executing the drawing remain visible. This preparation enhances the depth of the modelling and the chiaroscuro contrasts.
The drawing comes from a group of sheets preserved in the Florentine area, including anatomical studies, notes and architectural drawings, connected to an old Florentine family close to the city’s artistic, intellectual and architectural circles.
