Juventus – Football Drawing: The Embrace After the Goal. UEFA Champions League 1995–96
Marco Silombria (Savona, 1936 – Albissola, 2017)
Charcoal on paper, signed and dated '96
Dimensions: 100 × 72 cm
This drawing is part of the series created by Marco Silombria in 1996 to celebrate Juventus' victory in the UEFA Champions League. An artist active in Turin, Silombria worked closely with the Agnelli family and the FIAT group, designing major advertising campaigns. His connection to Juventus was not only thematic but also cultural and visual — the club represented strength, style, and national identity.
In this work, Silombria depicts four Juventus players embracing after a goal. Their backs converge, arms interlock, forming a dense and emotional composition. The use of charcoal powerfully conveys both physical tension and group cohesion.
Influenced by classical antiquity and Pop aesthetics, Silombria transforms a sporting gesture into a nearly sculptural image, where the celebration of the male body merges with the ritual of football.
