Spoon Collection, Sami Culture, Lapland

Set of four traditional Sami spoons from Lapland, carved from reindeer antler.
Three spoons are delicately engraved with a representation of a reindeer, while the fourth spoon features a more sober decoration.
Personal objects with strong symbolic value, these spoons were worn on the belt in a leather sheath. According to tradition, they were offered by a man to the woman he was courting.
Lapland, late 19th century. Good condition.
