Ghau Reliquary From Tibet
Portable Tibetan round-shaped, hammered and decorated silver, housing in the center a green Tara image protected by a glass pane. Kept in its textile case with carrying strap, the ghau (or gau ) was carried on one's person or taken on journeys as a talisman of devotion and protection.
It might contain a sacred image, mantra or relic; here, green Tara symbolizes protection, active compassion and help in the face of obstacles.
