Antique Italian Painting Moses Saved From The Waters From The 18th Century
Antique 18th-century Italian painting. A Venetian school oil on canvas artwork, mounted on a wooden panel currently undergoing restoration, depicting the biblical subject of Moses saved from the waters. The book of Exodus recounts that Moses' mother abandoned him in a basket on the Nile to save him from Pharaoh's persecution.
He was later found and adopted by Pharaoh's daughter, who went to the river to refresh herself with her maids. This horizontally arranged painting has good luminosity and a pleasing depth. The painting has undergone extensive conservative restoration work, with the canvas applied to a wooden panel and repainting in several areas. The size of the artwork is easily adjustable, but it shows signs of aging and restoration (see photo). In fair condition.
