Vanitas, under Anselme's hand, abandons its former theater of skulls and hourglasses to take refuge in the gravity of the everyday, where finitude does not howl, but gravitates. In this "vibrant sobriety", time is no longer a dizzying flight into nothingness, but a sedimentation of being on the rough skin of a fruit or the silent weight of a bird; it is the density of matter asserting itself against the void in a final, luminous act of resistance. Here, domestic introspection transmutes still life into an altar of the ephemeral, where each object, in its frozen immobility, confesses to us that true transcendence lies not in the pomp of marble, but in the sacred and profound beauty of that which, conscious of its mortality, dares to inhabit the light for a moment longer.
