This impressive Glory of the Immaculate Conception is framed in the tradition of the great masters of the Andalusian Baroque: the dominant notes come from the sculptural modeling of Alonso Cano and the agile compositions and golden light of Bartolomé Esteban de Murillo. Following a stereotype typical of one of Spain's most popular Marian devotions, the figure of the Virgin occupies a central position, surrounded by the symbols of her sinless conception (the apocalyptic moon, the palm tree of wisdom, the walled garden of chastity, the lily of purity, etc.). This magnificent altarpiece, of remarkable quality and monumental dimensions, will complement any collection of old master paintings.
