Moroccan koumya dagger, silver and ivory - Morocco, early 20th century
Sculpted ivory handle with chased silver decoration of arabesques and floral motifs.
Chased silver sheath of arabesques and floral motifs.
On the presentation side of the scabbard is a hallmark indicating the number "331" or "337" corresponding to the date 1331 or 1337 of the Hegira calendar (1912 or 1918 of the Gregorian calendar).
On the other side is a hallmark inscribed with Arabic calligraphy that I cannot decipher (probably the name of the town or craftsman).
European import blade acid-etched on one side with a floral frieze and a rider in a cartouche.
