Interesting nimcha-type saber with handle shape characteristic of 17th-century Barbary examples.
Horn handle.
Steel hilt with three quillons and a hilt branch.
Slightly curved blade with three deep gutters, flat back, single edge and strongly pronounced counter edge.
European import blade, most likely Italian based on the two marks present on one face.
Markings frequently found on Italian blades of the 16th and17th century (Cf, Wallace collections catalogs European arms and armourarmour, inventory numbers A495, A803, A535).
Quillons partly deformed. the guard has significant play.
