Pipe Head In Corozo Nut With Carved Figures - France - 18th Century
Eighteenth-century pipe head, masterfully carved in corozo nut, adorned all around with finely carved figures in period costume. In the center is a warrior figure holding a sword, surrounded by soldiers carrying shields, all executed in remarkable relief work. The base is decorated with an elegant face or mask motif.
This pipe head bears witness to a very high level of craftsmanship and exceptional carving quality, enhanced by a beautiful warm brown patina beautifully highlighting the details of the decoration. The reverse features a rich floral decoration carved around the hearth.
Beautiful authentic condition with a few small cracks and chips due to age and material, but no breaks. Rare collector's item, decorative and of high quality.
