Pair Of Empire Period Chased And Gilt Bronze Torches Attributable To Claude Galle
This pair of chased and gilded bronze torches, 27.5 cm high, features a binet decorated with palmettes and stylized flowers resting on a shaft whose upper part is adorned with three busts of women leaning back, coiffed in the antique style with pearl necklaces, surmounting a tapered sheath decorated with interlocking water leaves that rests on three pairs of bare feet set on a circular base adorned with a frieze of leaves and flowers. This model is typical of the production of Claude Galle (1759-1815) during the Empire period.
Condition report:
This pair of torches is in a beautiful state of preservation, showing very well preserved original gilding and a chased bronze structure free from any impact or deformation, undrilled for electricity, the wicks are reported.
