Lucien Victor Delpy (1898-1967) - Le Conquet, 1933 - Original Watercolor
This work is an original watercolor on paper signed lower left by artist Lucien Victor Delpy, located in Le Conquet and dated 1933. It depicts a lively view of Le Conquet harbor at low tide, featuring several colorfully-hulled fishing boats and barges beached on the shore in the foreground. On the right, the composition is based on a stone quay with silhouetted figures, dominated by a row of traditional Breton houses with slate roofs. The whole is treated with a lively touch combining line drawing, the transparency of watercolor and highlights of gouache, particularly in the clouds and light reflections. An original "Galerie Saluden / Brest" label appears on the back of the stand.
