Suite Of Four Louis XV Carved And Gilded Wood Chairs
Composition: This set consists of two authentic Louis XV period chairs (18th century) and two 20th-century replicas, faithfully reproduced to create a perfectly matching and homogenous set of four pieces.
Woodwork & CarvingThe frames are finely carved with rocaille motifs (shells, foliage clasps, and flower buds) across the rails, backs, and the tops of the cabriole legs. The traditional water-gilding (dorure à la feuille d'or) shows a natural, genuine wear that enhances the character and patina of the set.
UpholsteryAll four chairs have been fully upholstered in a sumptuous silk from the prestigious Maison Tassinari & Chatel. The fabric is a crimson damask with a rocaille pattern, whose rich and intricate design complements the carved wood details perfectly (please note: minor wear to the fabric).
Condition ReportStructure: Sound and stable. The two period chairs have undergone standard, professional restorations over the centuries to ensure structural integrity.
Gilding: Displays the natural wear and patinated luster expected for pieces of this age and quality.
Upholstery: Recent and in good overall condition, barring the minor wear mentioned above.
