Renaissance Style Corinthian Column Chest, Oak Writing Desk, 19th Century
Exceptional Renaissance-style solid oak cartonnier.
It stands on two ball feet at the front, topped by a broadly molded plinth.
In its lower part, two drawers with a front decorated with a central cartouche and scrolls.
Eight compartments in four rows each contain a cardboard drawer opening at the front.
The upper part is a writing desk, its front composed of two false drawers with the same ornamentation as the lower part.
A flap reveals a storage surface, behind it, a second small flap also provides functional storage see photo 10.
The sides are adorned with two fluted columns terminating in Corinthian pilasters.
The boards are in very good condition, but show some signs of use, quite normal given their use and age.
Craft furniture from the second half of the 19th century.
