Large Restoration-period Console In Burl Mahogany Veneer.
This Restoration-period console table in mahogany burl veneer, topped with white marble, is distinguished by its design with full-cheeked front jambs carved in inverted consoles. These massive jambs, adorned with large acanthus leaves at the top and ending in powerful lion's claws, frame a wide banded drawer whose veneer is carefully followed. The rigorous architecture of the piece rests on a solid base featuring superb butterfly-wing curling, offering a sober yet monumental silhouette typical of quality Parisian production in the first third of the 19th century
