A beautiful earthenware sculpture executed in low-fire enamels depicting the Virgin Mary and the Infant Jesus seated on a neo-Gothic throne with a high backrest adorned with an olive branch. On a step of the throne is a painted cartouche titled: "Quasi Olivia Speciosa in Campi" (As Specimen of the Fields). The hollowed-out back bears the blue painted signature of Angelo Minghetti, composed of the three intertwined letters "A, M, F" inserted between a stylized star and bracket. Circa 1896.
