Two Bronze Arm Fragments, 19th Century
Two bronze arm fragments, 19th century
Pair of arm fragments from a brown patina bronze statuette, dating from the 19th century. The first fragment represents an outstretched left arm, slightly bent at the elbow, with the hand open with fingers relaxed in a supple gesture. The second shows a right arm bent at the elbow, the hand closed into a fist, possibly intended to hold an attribute that has now disappeared.
Both elements feature a break at the upper end, revealing the hollow interior of the bronze. The anatomical modeling is meticulous, with a naturalistic rendering of the musculature and hands.
Dimensions: 11cm wide for the larger and 7 cm for the smaller
Condition: fragments, old breaks at the shoulders.
