This elegant jewelry casket bears witness to the refinement and eclecticism of Émile-Auguste Reiber, created in collaboration with Christofle. As head of the design and composition studio for the famous silversmithing house during the 1870s, Reiber was a pioneer of Japonisme in the French decorative arts, subtly blending Oriental influences with European tradition.
A rare object, this casket is representative of the major industrial exhibitions of the late 19th century, where Christofle presented innovative works that were highly acclaimed by critics.
