Architectural Art Deco Bronze Mascaron. “pomona”. 56cm. (sue Et Mare ? Paul Vera ?)
An important Art Deco architectural bronze mascaron (circa 1920-1925) with a medal patina, featuring a high-relief female allegorical face, likely Pomona, framed by a lush crown of stylized vine leaves and grape clusters. This large-scale piece (56 cm in diameter, approx. 20 kg) is distinguished by its high-quality casting and vigorous modeling, characteristic of the Neoclassical repertoire of Paul Vera or the circle of Sue et Mare for the Compagnie des Arts Français. Offering great decorative versatility, this medallion represents a rare surviving example of 1920s monumental ornamentation, as most such works were lost during the destruction or renovation of their original facades.
Probably french. Circa 1920/1930.
