Symbolically, the name "Tindaro" refers to the figure of Tyndareos, King of Sparta and father ofof Helen of Troy, which places the work in the mythological tradition often present in the artist's work.
Miniature version of Mitoraj's monumental sculpture Tindaro, which sat at La Défense and recently sold at Polswiss Art Auction House in Warsaw for a record of 1.6 million euros.
Inspired by ancient statuary, Igor Mitoraj sculpts broken or fragments of busts, faces and body parts.
