Emile Noirot Environs De Fontainebleau Crépuscule Painting Barbizon School
Artist: Emile Noirot. : 1853 - 1924
Superb painting by Emile Noirot, titled on a cartouche "crépuscule", and annotated on the reverse "environs de Fontainebleau".
A major French painter, renowned for the quality of his landscapes, he was a pupil of Charles François Daubigny and Alexandre Cabanel.
In the foreground, a pond with a subtle reflection, in the background a herdswoman with her dog.
Totally representative of his style, this painting fully expresses the painter's talent for rendering the effect of light in a calm, collected landscape at dusk. To achieve this, he used numerous small touches of white spread over the entire surface of the canvas, giving the illusion of flickering light;
Originally framed in an attractive gilded frame (a few small marks missing).
Out of frame: 56 x 46 cm
Early 20th century
