Large Art Nouveau marble bust of a young girl with water lilies by the sculptor George Charles Coudray. This model was created for the 1900 Universal Exhibition and presented by the artist as a preview at the Paris Salon in 1899. The hair and base are adorned with water lilies, a naturalistic representation typical of the Art Nouveau period. Good condition, some minor wear (see photos). A student of Alexandre Falguière at the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris and of Henri Allouard, Georges Charles Coudray exhibited at the Paris Salon between 1882 and 1903. He was recognized by his peers for his busts, sculptures, medals, and Orientalist works.
