Le Marchand De Tissus, Oil On Cardboard By Alfred Plauzeau
Artist: Alfred Plauzeau, Aventon 1875- Hendaye 1918
Thanks to a grant from the Poitiers town council, he entered the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris in 1897, where he studied under Jean-Léon Gérôme. He painted genre scenes (markets, farmers) of the Poitevin countryside. He was also a history painter and portraitist, and painted religious works. He exhibited at the Salon des artistes français from 1900 and became a member in 1904. He died in 1918, at the age of 43, while mobilized.
