Jean-François Raffaëlli is a French painter, sculptor, and printmaker.
A naturalist painter,he sought above all to depict in his paintings and drawings scenes from the Parisian suburbs, interiors, and portraits that were often dramatic. He is also known for his engravings of Parisian landmarks—such as Notre-Dame and Les Invalides—and for his illustrations of the writings of Joris-Karl Huysmans. He is associated with the Impressionist movement.
