Ancient African Wooden Female Sculpture From Cameroon (bamileke)
Sculpture of a female bust with a conical hairstyle entirely covered in colorful beads arranged in a spiral pattern.
The face displays an expressiveness typical of Bamileke workshops (an ethnic group from the western highlands of Cameroon).
The structure is made of solid wood, covered with a layer of clay decorated with engraved geometric patterns and inlaid with cowrie shells, a symbol of wealth and spiritual protection.
Condition: excellent overall condition; slight signs of use and minor chips on the clay body, one broken shell (see last photo).
