Reliquary Of The Holy Places Of Jerusalem, Dated - Napoleon III Period
Pretty and precious reliquary dated 1862 of the 'rocks of holy places and Sepulchres', with colored paperolles and glassware. (Napoleon III period) In its blackened wooden frame with protective glass on the front.
Contains four precious rocks of holy places with handwritten paperolles:

On the back, the handwritten history of this reliquary annotated in pen:
"These relics were given to Sr. Marie des Anges Vallois by Sr. Marie Euphrasie de Marie Superior of Our Good Shepherd Monastery in Cairo, who brought them back from Jerusalem, where she went in April 1862."
Very touching monastery work. Professional period framing (label on back of frame).

Very fine overall condition, this reliquary was not lacking in devotion.
Note a very slight rub on the lower margin of the frame, indicating that it must have been placed on a surface and not suspended (last photo).
