Demaria Frères (DMR) was a French camera manufacturer based in Paris between the late 19th and early 20th centuries.
Founded in 1897 by brothers Jules and Paul Demaria, the company distinguished itself through innovation in the fields of photography and early cinematographic equipment.
This specific model features a combined walnut and metal construction.
The device consists of three main parts:
Lighting body (black box):
Made of metal, it originally housed an oil or gas lamp, with an upper chimney for smoke to escape.
Fabric bellows: allows adjustment of the distance between the light source and the lens for focusing.
Brass lens: located on the front to project the image onto an external surface.
Internal condenser lens present.
Lens with functional focusing.
Internally, as is customary, the oil lamp has been replaced by a modern electric bulb.

Excellent overall condition.
Complete with plate holders and a glass plate depicting the sculpture of the "Rape of Proserpina" in the gardens of Versailles.
